I'm on a plane! Well, no, not really. But I will be in just 1 hour. And I think I could take flight with the number of butterflies beating willy-nilly in my gut.
I'm reveling in my last moments of English-speaking culture, for once I get on that plane, I'll be headed to San José, Puerto Rico, where I'll hail a cab (first time ever! and in Spanish, no less - let's hope I don't insult any mothers or ask for any bathtubs) to the bus station, take a bus two hours to Turrialba, find food to make meals tomorrow (I have a stash of granola bars in my luggage, just in case), hail another cab (I'll be expert by then, right?) and trek up the mountain to a language school/hostel on the hill. Then I'll be welcomed with a written and oral test to show how poorly I speak Español, shown my two-bed room and introduced to my roommate, and unpack my meager supplies. Then, I hope, time for some snoozing.
And that's just today.
Tomorrow, I'll have a prepared breakfast, sit for four hours of language instruction, and hopefully get instruction on how to get to the CAIPAD, a center for disabled adults, to volunteer as a PT.
After that, I have no clue what's happening. Classes, volunteering, meeting new friends, navigating Costa Rican markets, taking excursions, learning Spanish.
Whew. Adventure is out there.
Here we go!
This is where I'm headed. Take a gander, if you like!
